The climatic conditions in Gomel Oblast have changed in recent decades and now local farmers grow berries and vegetables that are native to southern countries. Fro example, this year Igor Grinko's farm is harvesting 30 varieties of watermelons, and also pumpkins and peppers, which grow nicely on melon plantations. The yield of watermelons reached about 70 tonnes per hecatrethis year.
